Building the "platform" - use the "experience" to let the "grassroots artist" stand under the spotlight

In 2013, Wang Farong, the former director of the Office of the Cultural Broadcasting and Television Bureau of the city (predecessor of the Municipal Culture and Tourism Committee), was visited the local area.

During the period, a performance performed by Tian Han Theatre made him remember.

“At the time, the folk art “Electric Violin” was performed. During the whole program, the entertainers and the host were interacting on the stage – hosts created an interesting atmosphere, the performers taking advantage of the performance, the two sides cooperated with ease, and the performance was fun overall. Although the form of performance is simple, the effect of moving the audience's emotions is surprisingly good.” Wang Farong said.

This traditional stage performance with great stage performance is deeply imprinted in Wang Farong's heart.

In June 2015, after a long period of preparation, the Municipal Culture and Tourism Committee (formerly the Municipal Cultural Commission) officially launched the plan to create a folk art stage – co-hosting the “First Chongqing Folk Culture and Art Star Selection Competition” with Chongqing Westart Cultural Industry Group. As a strategic platform for gathering folk literary stars, building a library of traditional folk cultural skills, and promoting the industrialization of traditional literary and artistic markets.

Wang Farong, the director of the Non-legacy Protection Division of the former Municipal Cultural Commission, made the specific implementer of this task.
